Overview
This workshop focuses on the planning and practice of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) by grounding discussions in the project lifecycle—from project concept to close-out. With a focus on the practical application of M&E for learning and improvement, participants strengthen their capacity to support M&E through participatory activities and exposure to tools and approaches that can be adapted for their current projects. Discussions on donor expectations and emerging trends help participants prepare for long-term success.
What you will learn
This two-day workshop begins with an overview of the value and contribution of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in projects and then explores their respective elements throughout the project lifecycle. The workshop enhances accountability with stakeholders, improves decision making throughout project design and delivery, and prepares participants to apply new knowledge and skills in the workplace.
Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand how M&E supports effective project planning, design, and implementation
- Write clear, useful indicators
- Understand how the M&E process can strengthen program quality and accountability
- Plan and execute meaningful evaluations
- Understand variations in donor expectations
- Deploy tools to support effective monitoring, learning, and evaluation
- Integrate learning into various stages of the project lifecycle

This workshop is intended for individuals who are engaged in project management but have limited previous exposure to project monitoring, learning and evaluation. This workshop is not intended for individuals with an advanced understanding of M&E. It is a useful follow-on course to InsideNGO’s PMD Pro 1 workshop.
